| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Word on Fire Show. I'm Brandon Vat, the content director at Word on Fire. |
| 0:09.2 | And with me, as always, is the great Bishop Robert Barron. Bishop Barron, welcome. |
| 0:14.9 | Brandon, it's always a pleasure to be on here with you. |
| 0:17.8 | Today, we are going to be discussing Bishop Barron's upcoming visit to the Philippines. |
| 0:24.0 | He's going over there as part of the International Eucharistic Congress. |
| 0:28.4 | He's given a few talks there. But before we talk about that, let's catch up a little bit, |
| 0:32.6 | Bishop. You were out this whole past week at a retreat with a bunch of other bishops. |
| 0:39.1 | And I first heard about that. I was really intrigued. I thought, what do bishops do when |
| 0:43.5 | they go out on retreat? So tell us a little bit about what that was like. |
| 0:47.2 | Well, it was a great week. I'm just back. I just got back about an hour ago. And I was |
| 0:51.4 | up at the House of Prayer for Priests in Los Angeles. It was founded the way back when |
| 0:56.9 | by Cardinal Manning back in the 1960s. And it's a lovely place because it's in the city, |
| 1:03.6 | but it's right near Griffith Park. And Angelino's and I was with no about that. Griffith Park |
| 1:08.2 | is kind of like Central Park. It's right in the heart of the city, but it's like you're |
| 1:12.1 | in Wyoming. You go up on this hill and it looks like you're in the wild west. It's |
| 1:17.2 | worth the Hollywood sign. People know that. It's right near there. Anyway, the House of |
| 1:21.8 | Prayer is kind of at the foot of that mountain. So it's a lovely little oasis in the middle |
| 1:26.6 | of the city. I gather with the bishops of the Los Angeles province. That means roughly |
| 1:34.0 | the bishops of Southern California, like from Fresno to San Diego. There are about 20 of us |
| 1:39.5 | or so. So you have the the ordinary is the bishops of the dioceses plus auxiliaries plus |
| 1:44.6 | a number of retired bishops. So there were, you know, a lot of us. What I did is follow |
| 1:50.8 | the nation exercises. So the kind of retreat we do here is not a preached retreat. |
