Church, I don't know about you, but if I'm being honest, I know this is church, no place for that, but it's been a tough week.

In our church, personally, in our nation, around the world. Yesterday, I don't know, a thousand of us or so gathered in this room

to bury a deacon here at the church, very untimely death that leaves behind a family.

Very hard. Multiple natural disasters. There are some of our friends, pastors that we are partnering

with in the city that are just getting power back from Irma and their houses are not put

the back together yet.

Puerto Rico is trying to survive, dig out.

The shooting in Las Vegas makes all of us scratch our head.

And we see this picture that sin is not a philosophical

idea or a theological construct, but sin kills and steals and destroys. Seems to be that we're

the most divided and polarized in our country, more so than ever. We're doing this series because love your neighbor and what do you do what do you do

when you don't know what to do what do you do when it seems like your world is on fire and not just

the world out there but like in you know your own monday through saturday Here's what you do.

You pray. You pray.

And so that's what we're going to do across all of our campuses.

This is how we're going to start the sermon.

It'll be a minute before I get to the Bible part of it, and we're just going to pray.

So put your phone away.

Make sure you put it where you can't see it because I think smartphones have stolen billions of prayers over the last

decade. So just lay it down and bow your head and close your eyes. And just you pray. You're not
