Global Wine Production is corked.

Wine Production worldwide is about to hit a 60 year low.

That's according to figures compiled by the international organization of the Vine and

wine in Paris.

Changing weather means that all the big wine-making countries have had a tough time growing grapes.

The BBC's Hugh Schofield, that's more.

Around the world this year, frost, rain, hail, mildew, drought or combinations of those five

scourges of the vine have contributed to a steep fall in production,

down 7% on last year, according to the OIV, with wine volumes globally expected to be the lowest since 1961.

In Europe, Italy, Spain and Greece all suffered badly,

with Italy losing its place as the world's top producing country to France.

In the northern hemisphere, only the United States saw an increase.

In the south, where the harvest came in at the start of the year, it's a similar picture

with Australian and Argentinian wine production both down by nearly a quarter.

Now the global wine industry has struggled with too much supply in recent years so this could help to

balance the market but how are producers coping? Jamie Verbarak is the commercial manager at the Casa Marin winery in Chile's San Antonio Valley?

I think we have faced in probably one of the most difficult times, very uncertain times, because when we started the vigner 20 years ago,

we were able to produce up to 250,000 kilop per in the whole total production for the 40 hectares that we have.

Today, this has dropped to 114,000 kilos,
