So I find January the incredibly optimistic time of year.

And it's full of hope, it's full of promise.

There's things going on. If you go into the garden, there are sort of little bulb noses poking up.

There's something new happening every day. There's a sort of fundamental sense that the

engine room of the garden, of the natural landscape, is just sort of stirring into life.

You can almost hear it grumbling under your feet.

There's this great sort of systolic pump of sap waiting to come up in only a few short months' time.
