There could soon be several major offshore wind farms along nearly the entire U.S. coastline.

At least that's the Biden administration's plan.

Interior Secretary Deb Hollen says her agency will start picking federal waters to lease to wind developers by the year 2025.

So we're talking about large wind turbines out at sea.

The goal is to lease waters in the Gulf of Mexico and on both the east and west coasts.

So in the east it would be off the coasts of Maine, New York, and the Carolinas,

and in the west off the coasts of California and Oregon.

Already this year, the Biden administration approved the nation's first,

major commercial offshore wind farm off the coast of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts.

And it approved opening up two areas off the shores of California for the same purpose.

As the New York Times reports, these actions represent the most forceful government push ever to promote offshore wind development.

Of course, this is all part of the Biden administration's plan to address global warming.
