Summary
William Hurt was a truly iconic actor, with a subtle yet powerful presence, dry delivery and unique style. Nominated for best actor three years in a row, he truly dominated the 80's but he also made an indelible impression in smaller part and smaller films.
He also starred in a film which resulted in one of Steve and John's favorite Cine-Files conversations and that is when they were joined by the legendary Hollywood reporter Kim masters to discuss. Broadcast News. (Trust us, this one was a lot of fun)

| 0:15.0 | for our reissuing of the broadcast news episode that we did with the great Kim Masters, am I correct |
| 0:24.1 | on that Steve? |
| 0:25.1 | That's right. |

| 0:30.7 | Once again, you know, for a reason that we are remiss to bring up, but because of the passing |
| 0:39.1 | of William Hurt, the young, I would say 71 years old, certainly for nowadays, 71 is kind |
| 0:46.1 | of young. |
| 0:47.1 | Yeah, I mean, you know, there have been a whole bunch of people in the last year, people |
| 0:50.5 | like Clorce Leachman and Ed Asner, and that had lived these, you know, they were in |
| 0:54.9 | their 90s. |
| 0:55.9 | And he likes, you know, Betty White, you know, but this one 71 is young and he's such |
| 0:59.6 | a vital, interesting actor. |
| 1:01.6 | I mean, I literally just said to John, you know, off the mic that he is a completely unique, |
| 1:08.4 | he's his own thing. |
| 1:09.4 | Yeah. |
| 1:10.4 | He's his own time zone. |
| 1:11.8 | He's a fascinating actor that you could have easily lumped into the Waspish 1980s actors |
| 1:19.1 | that came through, did their thing and maybe went on their way. |
| 1:23.5 | But somehow William Hurt, because of his dedication to the craft, because of his unusual |
| 1:29.1 | nature, his commanding presence by doing very little, yeah, has found a connection with |
