The word unprecedented has been used a number of times for Donald Trump, but this is it in spades.

A congressional committee for the first time in US history has called for the prosecution of a president because of January the 6th. And they want him charged on

four counts, obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States,

conspiracy to make a full statement,

inciting, assisting, aiding or comforting, an insurrection.

This is the sound of January the 6th almost two years ago. Just cast your mind back to the rioting

almost two years ago when rioters descended on the capital.

At what the committee says now was the behest of the former President Donald Trump, just listen to the sound they made.

The United States against enemies foreign and domestic. U.S.S. sound they made.

There were calls to hang Mike Pence. There were calls to kill Nancy Pelosi. This wasn't just some theoretical, figurative rejection of an election result.

This was the moment they wanted to create violence and death. In fact, five people died,

four of them by suicide in the weeks afterwards, their own hands because of what happened that day.

This was a monumental break with democracy in the US that we had known in the past

and an insurrection that was threatening to overturn the entire system.

And that's what the committee has been thinking about over the last 18 months.
