Kalin DeBore is trying to put the band back together at Alabama and hiring his former OC at multiple stops.

And a guy that he goes all the way back with to the NAAIA days in Ryan Grub is a fantastic move.

How do I know this? Well, the proof is in the pudding. When Grub and DeBore were at Washington

and Fresno State together, their offensesaged almost 36 points per game and almost

490 yards per game. While schematically, Grub is a very talented and natural play caller,

I think one of his biggest additions to this coaching staff is how well he can evaluate and develop

quarterbacks. Simply put, this guy doesn't miss when it comes to who to sign and how to grow them. We can talk about

Michael Pinnock Jr., we can talk about Jake Hainer, and there's others. But with Bama now having to

fill the void, after Jalen Mulrow left for the NFL, there is no better person to lead the new

QB and nobody who knows DeBore's system better. After last year was up and down for DeBoer in the tide,

most Bama fans still seem weary of whether he can do it or, you know, not.

We're going to find out.

But having the stability of Grub will do nothing but help,

even if it's only for one year if Grub has head coaching aspirations.

One can even argue that having Grub is more important than DeBore, because without him,

the consistency and ceiling wasn't nearly as high. So was Bama back? We're going to have to wait and

see on that, but Grub could have them eating at the bigger table sooner rather than later. David Cohn,
