One year ago, Donald Trump won the popular vote, swept all seven battleground states and made major gains Latino voters and younger voters.

But earlier this month, Democrats notch big wins in New Jersey, Virginia, and several other states, thanks in part to winning back some of the very same voters who had swung to Trump last year.

So what happened? What does it tell us about the midterms next year? Can Democrats actually take back the House and the Senate?
