Hello everyone and welcome to Slash Film Daily for Monday, November 8th, 2021.

0:05.0

On today's episode, we're going to discuss the latest film and TV news.

0:08.5

This is Slash Film Editorial Director Peter Sorretta

0:11.0

and joining me on today's podcast, slash film Senior writer, Ben Pearson.

0:14.9

Hey, what's going on?

0:16.4

A lot, actually.

0:18.9

Ben, I want to thank you for taking the reins last week.

0:21.6

I was out, Kitra's mom passed away in Northern California so

0:27.5

we're up there with her in her last few days and I'm probably going to be going back in the coming weeks so Ben

0:38.0

will probably be taking over for me during that time but I don't want to bring things down so let's move on to

0:46.4

movie news and you know let's talk about the fun stuff I guess let's start first with Star Wars.

0:53.6

Ben, you're going to tell me that like we're getting some good Star Wars movies coming,

0:57.0

right? Like nothing bad has happened.

0:59.6

Ah, well, I regret to inform you, Peter, that Rogue Squadron, the movie that Patty Jenkins was lined up to direct,

1:06.0

has been actually removed from Lucas Films calendar and taken off of the production schedule altogether.

1:13.4

So no, the answer is there's not good Star Wars movie news right now.

1:18.6

So this movie was supposed to be the first feature film since 2019's Rise of Skywalker and now we don't know what the

1:27.2

future of this project really is. As far as we know, according to this report, Patty Jenkins is still

1:32.4

attached to make this movie

1:34.7

But the movie was supposed to go into pre-production at the end of this year and start shooting next year for a 2023 release and now that is not happening. So the reason that it's supposed to be not happening is because of Patty Jenkins commitments elsewhere and it's sort of unclear exactly what that means like you know we

1:56.9

she has a deal to direct Wonder Woman 3 for Warner Brothers and I think she has a Cleopatra movie set up at Paramount but the timetable on those is a little bit sketchy and I'm not sure exactly if one of those has like you know leapfrogged over this Star Wars project, you would think that somebody

2:15.8

attached to a Star Wars movie that that might be like the most high profile sort of a, you know, first in line kind of thing, but I'm not sure what's happening so uh yeah what what is more important than Star Wars then what is more important than Star Wars and also you think when when you announce a date, a release date, you have people, well this isn't always true, but like they announced the release date and they announced the project with her attached. So you think that they would have had the scheduling already figured out.
