let's jump right into the news today. H.T. why don't you tell us about what Amazon is intending to do their latest play for theatrical dominance?

So Amazon is vying with other competitors to acquire landmark theaters, which is the independent movie focus theater chain, which has more than 50 locations across the country.

So this would allow Amazon to basically get footing into the

brick and mortar industry in Hollywood after it has expanded its original

content game with Amazon Studios through TV and movies.

And this is actually possible because of a recent Department of Justice announcement that

it plans to review the antitrust rules that bar studios

from owning theaters for the past 70 years. So this rule may actually no longer be in play once Amazon or whoever does acquire Landmark

theaters is able to make this purchase.

Okay so this is Amazon is not the only streaming service that is interested in, you know, sort of buying up theater

Netflix is also wanting to purchase and own their own theaters as well.

that we might be entering like a war of these streaming services as they attempt to go physical and

you know we've talked a lot about how Netflix doesn't tend to give their movies a theatrical release

whereas Amazon on the other hand is very much sort of aligned with the theatrical distribution
