I like the St. George's Day traditions.

Do you like the St. George's Day traditions?

My favourite St. George's Day tradition is probably Sadiq Khan, posting a very lavish and patriotic

peon to our patron saint and then going on to far right media to find

people claiming that he's never mentioned it at all um that's a lovely that's a lovely st george's day

tradition it warms the cockles of my english heart to to see people lining up to attack a brown man

uh for celebrating his englishness it's uh it's a lovely thing to see. Or as a new

tradition now, apparently you pretend not to understand why the Prime Minister might talk about the need

to reclaim the flag. I remember attending a National Front March with my father. I should probably

clarify that. My father was covering it for the Daily Telegraph. And of course, flags of St George were absolutely everywhere.

I think people might even have been wearing them.

So the battle to reclaim that kind of iconography from people who would be today using St. George's Day as an opportunity to attack a brown Englishman for celebrating his Englishness.

Apparently now you can also pretend another tradition to add to the list not to understand

why there is a need to keep the fires burning, if you like, when it comes to distinguishing

between proper patriotism, which can be represented sadly by the same iconography, the same

flag as fake patriotism or a sort of form of supremacy.

Supremicism. So I don't know is the short answer. David Cameron has been in touch. I doubt it's that one.

But nonetheless, he hopes I will be properly covering St. George's Day today, James.

But he adds, I doubt it, though, as these days you'll get arrested and thrown in jail just for saying that you're English.
