I thought politics is where you go up and you figure out what the voters want and then you make

promises to the voters that if you elect me I'm going to achieve these things for you and if you

talk to the right part of the population and they make up a large enough percentage of the

voter base, then you get elected.

I thought that was like the whole point of an election.
