I'm here today with a show which informs a special and friendly rebuttal to Mr. Tim Staples of Catholic Answers, a good man, and an overall good outfit, on a bit of

Catholic thought news that got buried under the election and which cannot afford to be buried.

Francis's statement in Francesco, the documentary, which refers to a very real, in arguable act he took as Archbishop of Buenos Aires,

defending the idea of and the legislative idea of gay civil unions.

Now, Tim Staples, a good man,

I'm going to say something about Mr. Staples in a second,

defended in a way that is magisterially incorrect,

Francis's magisterially incorrect statement on gay civil unions. Most of that stems from the fact

that in Buenos Aires, the legislative issue of gay civil unions was a matter of first impression. This is a

legal term, meaning they didn't have gay civil unions before he was defending it,

in which case the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith document on point,

would have, it does allow a gloss, if a new bit of legislation is a gloss on pre-existent legislation on gay civil unions,

and the new gloss merely strips at the strength of or makes distinctions to the affirmation of gay civil unions,
