So when I sat in on a meeting with then national security advisor, Susan Rice,

it was her last interview with the press. It was January 18th, 2017 in her West Wing

office and she was asked what's going to be the number one issue facing the incoming

administration and without hesitation she said

North Korea. Was that the case then to your mind and is it still the case now?

Well I think it was certainly the case then, and it was in that position is supported also by the fact that it is what President, then President Obama, told then President-elect Trump would be the most urgent national security issue

facing his new administration. That is what President Obama told the

President-elect and I think that's borne out.

From my perspective, I had the counterterrorism and homeland security job in the White House.
