Hello everyone. Welcome to another follow him favorites. My name is Hank Smith. I'm here with

0:06.9

John by the way. Hi, John. Hi, Hank. John, you know the drill. We take one question from

0:12.3

this week's Come Follow Me lesson. The question this week comes from Romans 8, where Paul talks

0:17.6

about prayer. John, how would you answer this question? Why do we pray? What's so important

0:23.1

about it? Well, that's a good question because sometimes we even get tripped up by am I saying

0:28.2

the right words or am I saying them in the right order and things like that? It is good to

0:32.3

try to pray in the most reverent way and everything. But boy, just the fact that you get on your

0:37.8

knees or opens up the door for the Spirit to inspire you. There's a verse in Romans 8, 26. I've

0:42.9

always liked this. Likewise, the Spirit also help us our infirmities for we know not what to pray for

0:49.5

as we ought. But the Spirit itself make it the intercession for us with groanings which cannot be

0:55.8

uttered. I think I love that verse. That just says just the very act of praying, even if

1:01.4

Italy, Father, I don't know what I need, but I feel the need to pray that the Spirit knows.

1:07.0

And the fact that you have to mix with another scripture, the fact that you have come to knock

1:11.8

and ask and seek means the Lord will open the door to you. Beautiful. Isn't there a verse in

1:18.1

Joseph Smith history that says, I knelt down and began to offer up the desires of my heart to God?

1:25.0

That's one of the most simple definitions of prayer, I think. Offer up the desires of my heart.

1:30.9

If it's in your heart, talk about it. If it's something you've been pondering and thinking

1:34.6

about, talk about that. And I think what Paul is trying to say here in Romans 8 verse 26,

1:40.6

John is, you don't have to worry so much about getting your words right. For we know not what we

1:46.7

should pray for as we ought. If you're going to wait to say a perfect prayer, you're never going

1:51.2

to pray. And God is going to accept your imperfect prayer because he knows your heart.

1:56.6

Yeah, I think that the Lord's not going to say, oh, no, you got your deval dines mixed up. I'm
