We are here to talk about derbies.

Specifically, what is a derby?

Yeah.

Why is it called a derby?

Interesting.

And isn't it pronounced derby? You would think so. called a Derby? Interesting. And isn't it pronounced Derby?

You would think so.

We're also later in the show going to name some of our favorite derbies. Not all of them, because we'll be here all day. but we'll also get into why, what makes each derby special?

Okay, so let's answer the big question first.

Why is it called a derby? Because I can understand, especially if you're a new soccer fan, say, in the United States, you're just thinking, what? Why is it the Merseyside Derby? What is it going on here? Well, as with most things that originate in England, I would say it's a little confusing.
