In the book of John, Jesus disciples had the privilege of seeing him work from an intimate vantage point. They were not like the crowds who watched

him perform miracles and turned away once his message became too radical. They believed he alone is the answer.

Some time ago I had one of the most challenging experiences of my life. I was in Moscow, the capital of the

former Soviet Union, and I had the opportunity to preach and I preached in a

marvellously beautiful hall. It was called the Red Army Theater. Then that

auditorium were soldiers, army officers, and their wives. The soldiers were

all dressed in their military uniforms and they were sitting out there

rank upon rank upon rank.
