In the Middle Ages, before books were readily available, monks and priests were forced to rely on their memory, to cite, or to reflect on Scripture.

And so some utilized a technique that has its roots in ancient Greece and Rome, a technique called Losi, known today as the Mind Palace.

In efforts to memorize chapters of the Bible or even entire books, these religious

men would imagine a cathedral in their mind. Each room in the massive structure would house a vivid

image that would jog their memory regarding a particular text. One room in the cathedral might have

a shepherd leading a line of sheep through it over and over

to remind him of the words to Psalm 23.

Another door might lead to outer space and reveal the moments of creation found in Genesis chapter 1.

In today's Bible story, we'll be challenged to take off her sneakers, put on her house shoes, and take a little

stroll through our own mind palaces. Walk past the room marked saved by the bell trivia,

another labeled TikTok recipes, until you arrive at the space that holds the memories of your

salvation experience. Take a seat there. Remember the weight of your sin, the mercy of Jesus,

and the incredible feeling of freedom as the Lord rescued you from yourself. Join me now as we
