We're doing mystery hour 24 hours later than usual because of the, well, the audacity, frankly, at the Bank of England to announce their interest rates of 12 noon on a Thursday.

If you don't know what this is, if you're relatively new to the program, and a surprisingly large number of people are at this point in its history, then you're in for a bit of a treat, although it is fundamentally and profoundly different from what unfolds on this program and indeed this radio station for the other, well, 24 times 7 minus 1 hours of the week. This isn't news-based or current affairs driven or even particularly opinionated.

recruit knowledge with each other. That makes it sound a lot more serious than it usually

turns out to be. But it began, I'd love to pretend it began as an adventure in battling the instant gratification of search engines and something like that.

It began because on Thursdays, when elections happen, we have to do stuff that involves not mentioning the election in any way, shape or form.

The only occasion I've fallen foul of offcom's very fair and generous rules is when I managed to

break that little rule about not mentioning elections on election days.
