There's some subjects that I will never leave alone until I come to a

better understanding of them. And I feel that every time we address the issue we're about to

address, from slightly different angles, usually, we just, we come away with a little bit more

knowledge, a little bit more understanding. Alan makes an early powerful point. It's the cult of personal responsibility, James. All these

people claiming that the problem is poor parenting or a lack of willpower or even laziness.

They often come from a pious position of I can resist and therefore you should too. But I'll tell you

what, Alan, they also come from the opposite position they say things like well I'm

very overweight I'm very fat and I can tell you that all you need to do is eat less and exercise more

even as you are living walking proof that that's not as easy as you make it sound if it was easy

to eat less and exercise more you wouldn't be fat right um so we are coming back to this question of what is peculiar to Britain.

And part of the problem, of course, is the media. I will, I'll beat you to it, shall I?
