So, why do I wake? What does it mean? It means that there is a big difference between being

awake and being wide awake. You know what I'm talking about? You're like, I know I'm

awake, but I'm not wide awake. Any morning people here just survey. God bless all of you.

Any not-morning people here. You know, more or not morning people than morning people,

but morning people wake up wide awake. This is annoying to not morning people because

not morning people become wide awake somewhere in the range between 11, 20, and 115 in the

day. And I'm operational before that, but I'm not wide awake. I'm functional before that,

but I'm not completely wide awake. And it's that picture that we want to come around

in these next few weeks because there's a big difference between being alive and being

fully alive. And a big difference between being awake and being wide awake and what

God is hoping for all of us is that we move from just being alive to being fully alive

and from being awake to being wide awake. And tonight in step one, here's what I think

God wants us to wake up to. I think God is desiring that you be wide awake to who you

really are. That God wants us not to just sort of function in a limited view of who we

are, but he wants us to flourish in his view of who we are. And there's a huge difference

for us when we wake up fully wide awake to who God says that we are. We talked a few

weeks ago, you might remember about the story of Lazarus in John chapter 11. Notice a couple

of verses there and what happened in this particular story because as you know, Lazarus

died and Jesus didn't arrive in time. And so this is one of those miracles of Jesus that

we hear about through the course of our lives. But before it was clear that Lazarus was

going to die, look what Jesus said in verse 11 to his followers. After this, he said to

them, our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going there to what? To wake him up.
