coming out of, frankly, the reformation seemed intractable.

You know, not a lot of room for all of these peoples to share.

And, you know, we saw the intractability of those problems extend

right up through 1945 and beyond in some ways.

But what brought it to an end is something that the founders

would not have countenanced weapons of mass destruction,

a secret government, a state within a state in the United States

that was basically a military scientific government

creating weapons capable of destroying millions of lives in an instant.

And even that, you know, okay, yes, that sort of

finally knocked the soul out of Europe to such a degree

that they kind of crawled into the EU and crawled up into a ball

and waited for the pain to go away, which, you know,

checking in on Europe seems the pain has not yet gone away.

So, you know, not an unmitigated wind there, even by the low

standards of scorched earth policy.
