| 0:15.0 | And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks. |
| 0:21.0 | What's up everybody? Welcome to move the sticks presented by FedEx DJ and Bucky back here as we continue to look back on the draft that took place over the weekend buck and now getting a chance to I don't know about you, but for me, one of my favorite exercises pull up our lads.com go to the depth charts and see all these new rookies sprinkled in and you get a feel for what these overall teams look like that's that's kind of what we're doing today. Yeah, now this is great opportunity to kind of look back and to also talk about what we say is always the theme of when you're building your |
| 0:51.0 | team the best way to build a champion is you have to build it to win the division and then once you win the division you get into the playoffs. And so everyone has to know what's around them what the division rivals are doing what the top teams have in place and why they were able to win. |
| 1:06.0 | And then they have to make counter moves within the framework and philosophy of what they believe in to catch up to those rivals. So it'd be great to kind of take a look at all eight divisions talk about the division winners and the teams that are best position to overtake them going forward. |
| 1:21.0 | All right, well, let's jump in here and look at a division that's changed for the first time in gosh, 20 years, right with Tom Brady leaving New England. Now you still have New England who has owned this division with the best defense in the NFL last year, although there's been some other roster changes, Buck, but when you look at the landscape in that division and look at the other teams based off what we've seen now through the offseason, who has made the most ground up on the Patriots. |
| 1:45.0 | Well, I mean, I think the natural team to put in that conversation will be the Buffalo bills, the Buffalo bills, one are a team that is a winning team. They are a playoff team. |
| 1:53.0 | Shameg Dermott, Brandon Bean, that staff did a really good job of building what I call a blue collar roster with a bunch of worker bees and what they've done in the offseason is they've added to that because as good as they were, they still needed a little more pop a little more sizzle, particularly on offense. So then you go and make a big trade and get Stefan Diggs. |
| 2:13.0 | You team him with Cole Beasley, John Brown. You now have a wide receiver core that can threaten you not only horizontally, but vertically. And because Stefan Diggs is an outstanding route runner to able to make plays and do it. And then I think adding more pop and punch to the running game. |
| 2:30.0 | I know Singletary ran for a lot of yards and had really a nice yards per carry average, but they still needed a banger. I think they got one with Zach Moss. And so when you look at all of the pieces that they've added on the pitch, |
| 2:42.0 | to go with what I think is a solid defense that they've also added some solid pieces in an AJ epinessa to I just think this team is well positioned to compete with the Patriots, even though there's something in me that still believes the Patriots will be there at the end because the Patriots are always there at the end. |
| 3:02.0 | I like what you said there, Buck. I also think when you look at their draft, I can find kind of a theme. They took players that were great on tape that did not get carried away with testing numbers. And they took guys at a physical edge. You mentioned Moss. They also got AJ epinessa from Iowa, which I thought was a great value pick where they're able to get him in the second round. I thought that was tremendous. |
| 3:24.0 | He fits in kind of with their culture and how they play the physicality, the production. And then I think from the receiver standpoint, you bring in Stefan Diggs and you look at their core that they had with John Brown and Colt Beasley, the one thing they didn't really have a size. |
| 3:37.0 | So you go out and get a Gabe Davis from UCF, who's a vertical stretch player, but has some size to him. Then you come back, get Isaiah Hodgins, who I compared kind of as like a poor man's alchon jeffery. So you're building some size to kind of round out that basketball team as we like to call it. |
| 3:53.0 | Yeah, the way that we like to talk about it. And you know, DJ, you talked about like there's a theme and whatever. And I think the good teams, the good teams, you can close your eyes and envision the kind of players that they typically like. |
| 4:06.0 | I think we're beginning to see that theme come out in the Buffalo Bills. I think when you look at the number of drafts and the number of players that they picked up, the guys that they've signed and how they play. |
| 4:17.0 | When I keep bringing up blue collar work at bees, no nonsense, not a lot of fanfare. I think that's kind of who they are. I think Sean McDermott, Brandon Bean, they have a clear idea of who they want on their team, how they want to play and the culture that they've created in Western New York. |
| 4:35.0 | And I think it is a very rough and rugged, let's roll us leaves up, let's go to work and get it done. And I think it is work very, very well for them as evidenced by what to play off appearances in three years. |
| 4:47.0 | No doubt. And real quickly, just on the other two teams, I thought the jets, they're a nice job of trying to rebuild this offensive line led by McCuy Bechton, who's going to be their left tackle for the next decade plus, you know, Conor McGoverns, a good center. |
| 4:59.0 | I think they've upgraded a lot of that offensive line, Cameron Clark, who they drafted in the fourth round, I think has a chance to compete as a starter with fan who they signed in free agency. |
| 5:10.0 | So they did a nice job of upgrading that offensive line. But when you look at the dolphins, they had a bunch of resources as well, Buck, I think they're better just by the numbers they threw at it. Obviously you're going to need to come along, we'll see when he gets the reins. |
| 5:24.0 | The whole division got better as the Patriots come down. I think you see these other teams come up, but I do think that Buffalo is just ahead of those other two with where they were coming into the offseason. And I really like what they did. |
