Hello there, I'm Chuck Todd and this is the Chuck Todd cast.

So the week, wow, and it's not done.

We're recording this on Thursday morning.

We are still waiting on the final house numbers.

We're still waiting on Senate results from Arizona and Nevada.

The results might be surprisingly historic, but if you've been paid attention in the NBC

News poll, what we saw in the midterms should not have been a shock that we could have this

sort of uncomfortable status quo.

So to help us understand how our final poll stacked up against the results so far, I'm

joined now by Bill McAter, co-founder of Public Opinion Strategies.

Jeff Borowitz, the senior vice president and heart research, the two polling firms behind

the NBC News poll, and we've got Dante Cheney, who's director of the American community's

project and is the brain behind data download every Sunday on Meet the Press.

So Bill, Jeff, and Dante, let's get out here on numbers.

And Bill, I want to start with, I want to start sort of like as big a picture as possible

and that is the generic ballot.

We had, there's been a conventional wisdom, I grew up this way in the last 30 years that

there was always sort of added a couple of points, the Republicans, Democrats would have

to win by a couple of points to hold the House.

Republicans could be within a point to pick up the House and look, that's, we may be there.

But based on this new map, I think the country is as honest of a map as we've ever had, isn't

it?
