Summary

It’s that time of year again, when we’re all feeling a bit like, “When it rains, it pours.” Most of the rain is really quite lovely, but this season, at least at our house, sometimes feels like so much. I have not been this close to full on maxed out in a long time, and I am feeling it. Today, I want to share a simple Lazy Genius path to naming what’s maxing you out and tending to it well so that you can enjoy this season. Hey there, you're listening to the Lazy Genius podcast. I'm Kendra Adachi. This show is not about

0:06.3

hacking your schedule to find more time or hacking your energy to get more done. Hustling to be the

0:11.8

best or to make the most out of every opportunity. It is exhausting and unsustainable. So here we do

0:18.2

things differently. On this podcast, we value contentment, compassion,

0:22.9

and living in our season. We favor small steps over big systems. Here we are lazy geniuses,

0:29.5

being a genius about the things that matter and lazy about the things that don't. And I'm so glad

0:33.8

you're here. Today is episode 445 when you're maxed out. We might even call this

0:40.8

when you're already maxed out and it's not even Thanksgiving yet. So we are in a season of

0:45.2

experiencing that old saying, when it rains, it pours. Now most of the rain is quite lovely,

0:51.2

but this season at our house at least sometimes feels like it is so much. And I know

0:57.1

it's not just us. I know it's not the Adachi family only. Almost every real life friend that I have

1:03.1

talked to over the last couple of weeks is already approaching max capacity. We're all like a little

1:09.2

wide-eyed, like a bunch of deer and headlights. And that feeling,

1:12.6

it is exhausting. I have not been this close to full on maxed out in a really long time. And I am

1:20.9

feeling it. So today I want to share a simple lazy genius path when you're feeling maxed out because we want to be where

1:30.3

we are. We want to enjoy the season. We are reasonable people who know that there are a lot of

1:36.6

extra things that have to get done, but we still hit our limits. You know, we get overstimulated and

1:41.6

distracted and forget things. And when we remember them, we're like, oh, no, one more thing.

1:48.1

Like literally just now is I'm working on this episode about being maxed out, I remember

1:53.4

that amidst all the preparation that I did last weekend to get on top of everything that I

1:59.1

have to do, I forgot to include Christmas presents

2:02.1

for people. My kids are not getting presents this year because of these two huge trips that we're
