Would you turn with me to Galatians chapter 1, verses 6 through 10?

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and turning to a different gospel.

Not that there is another gospel, but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the

gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a

gospel contrary to that which we preach to you, let him be accursed.

As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be a cursed.

Am I now seeking the favor of men or of God?

Or am I trying to please men?

If I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ.

The main truth now that underlies this text in Galatians chapter 1 versus 6 to 10 is that

there is only one gospel and then growing up out of that underlying terrain of truth, there are three statements, which we need to hear very much today because there's nothing happened in the intervening 20 centuries to make them any less relevant

for us.

One, it is astonishing when a person hears the gospel begins to believe it and turns away from it to another gospel, which is no gospel,

two, a person who rejects or perverts the gospel of Christ is a cursed.

And three, the person who is a servant

of the gospel lives to please only God, not man. That's the outline of the

message. So let's go back and take it just a piece at a time.

The underlying truth is that there is only one gospel.

In verse 6, Paul says that the Galatians are turning away to what he calls a different gospel.

Then he realizes that that could communicate something very wrong.

And he qualifies it immediately in verse 7.
