When important becomes urgent, clear your plate, and address the important (because, by definition, it's important).

When Important Becomes Urgent: Faith, Family, Fitness

Those things that are important but not urgent, such as family, health, and religion, can become urgent when unattended to (or minimally attended to) long enough.

You find yourself bickering with your spouse or family more than normal, clothes unable to fit and feeling physically and mentally worse, and falling short of the standard your faith holds you to.

Now, your family, your fitness, and your faith are urgent (and, of course, still important).

It is time to clear your schedule, pull the weeds, and take care of what is most important. Life is signaling to you that you need to spend more time and effort on these things.

This might be scheduling a vacation. It could be a spiritual retreat. Maybe you clear off a time to train every day and start every single day (today) training.

I've been back from vacation now for a few days, almost a week at this point.

I want to talk about something that we've experienced a few times, or I experience probably

more than a few times in business and life and that is when the urgent

becomes important and so if we think about the quadrants of you know are not urgent, not important, we try to purge those from our life as much as we can.

There are times in our life like on vacation or just down times that some of that's fine.

I would even say, I would even move that out of the, you know,

non-important side. So, you know, my wife and I have watched some good TV shows while we were on vacation,

things like that.

That ultimately I would say are not urgent not important in my normal day-to-day sphere we have the things that are urgent but

not important I try to delegate and automate those out as much as I can.

We have things that are constantly going on in the business and in life, they're urgent

and important, and you try to handle those with a ton of efficiency.

So let me start there.

Most of you know my schedule, you don't have to keep my schedule. You know I wake up early in the morning even earlier than I want to. And I dedicate the first couple of hours of my day every day to the urgent and important things. And there's a couple reasons for that.
