Summary

Today’s episode features two guests who know what it’s like to lose everything. They share with us how their hope was restored through God’s promise that He will never leave us or forsake us. Our first guest is Brett Swayn who shares how his journey through homelessness brought him to a place where he is now able to share the hope he found in Christ with others going through the same situation. Our second guest is Sherry Taylor, a graduate of The Next Door, a faith based rehabilitation center. Sherry. She shares how she lost everything in the throes of addiction, and how God restored her from brokenness to wholeness in Him.

0:46.0	My name is Brett Swain. I am the Executive Director of Lamscroft Ministries,
0:50.0	which is also tied into the cookery,
0:52.0	which is a culinary school and a working cafe in
0:55.1	Nashville Tennessee. I was born in Perth, Western Australia in 1967 and I left Australia in the hopes of becoming I guess in the end a better person in 91
1:08.7	Which landed me first in Europe I was playing at a ski resort as a nighttime musician in entertainment in
1:18.4	Hofgarten Austria. From there I travelled over to England to get to my intended destination which was America in April 91,
1:31.0	with my parents being divorced and, you know, growing up in a broken family,
1:36.8	and there was so many things happening on the inside of a kid that you don't have words for.
1:42.4	I had the thoughts and the dreams and I just
1:44.8	always felt like if you dreamed it and you were sincere in your dreaming and you
1:48.9	were diligent in your effort that you can get anything that you wanted to be in life.
1:56.0	And for me when music came along I was actually wanting to be an Australian Air Force pilot so that was a real deviation
2:08.5	but I remember studying calculus in my room and my mom had got me a keyboard after March and Agging and as I was studying
2:17.7	probability in calculus I leaned over and I hit this chord this progression and
2:21.6	I was you know very new to music, but I remember a feeling just
2:26.5	whoushed through the inside of me that I felt more alive. The exhilaration was like being on a roller coaster.
