You're currently visiting professor at the Watson Institute

for International Public Affairs at Brown University. Before that, you taught for 20 years at the

U.S. Naval War College, which is going to come in handy because I'm curious about how naval warfare might unfold in the event that the U.S.

wound up in a war with China over Taiwan, something that seems way more likely than it seemed 10 or 12 years ago,

and somewhat more likely than it did only a few years ago.

And I want to eventually

get into that with you about why you think it's, if you agree, that it's become more likely and

in any event, what might be done to make it less likely, things like that. I also want to get

into the relationship between China and Russia a little because I know you're working on a book on

that. And I think we'll probably have time to get into the Ukraine Russia a little because I know you're working on a book on that.
