I've been all over the place.

You pulled an all-nighter this week? Yeah, I did. You've been stressing, you've been studying,

you've been learning, you've been thinking. What have you been thinking about?

Something I don't know at all about which is difficult mathematics and specifically

chaos theory and why have you been pulling all-nighters reading about chaos here?

Well, I'm trying to understand where this is going and why there is so much variation in what we're seeing and you know how it ends really.

My understanding from our conversations is that at first we thought there was going to be a vaccine and that was what it was just like

Hang tight until we get a vaccine now it seems like we don't really have a way to suppress the virus. We've failed at a

coordinated national strategy to keep things in check until we have a vaccine.

There's a lot of promising news about the vaccine, but realistically we don't really know when it's going to happen.

So my understanding is that where this is headed in the US is herd immunity.

Yeah. Is that right? Yeah, but what do you know about what hurt immunity is?

Hurt immunity is the idea that enough people in a particular community get the virus and develop antibodies.

And with the antibodies we assume they are immune for some period of time

although we haven't totally proven that but it's a widespread assumption so

enough people become immune that people who are not immune are very unlikely to get the virus,

like the rate of transmission goes down because just there are fewer people who can possibly get it.
