0:11.0	I'm Tanya Wilmoth. So today I'm going to tell you a victory story. It might
0:17.8	be one that you've heard before but I don't know that you've heard it from this
0:21.4	perspective.
0:22.8	So there are certain names in our culture
0:24.6	that are synonymous with victory,
0:26.8	and Michael Jordan is one of them.
0:28.8	So a few stats you probably already know.
0:31.7	Jordan had 30 games with the Bulls where he scored 50 or
0:34.6	more points. That's impressive. He appeared in a hundred and seventy nine playoff
0:39.1	games. That's really impressive. He reached six NBA finals. I think one of the most
0:45.8	impressive things about all of that is that in those playoff years he only
0:49.3	missed six regular season games. Michael Jordan, well he knows victory. But when he signed with
0:56.0	the Bulls he had three shoe brands competing for his contract. They were
1:01.1	Converse Adidas and Nike.
1:04.0	Which one of those got the true victory?
1:07.0	See, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were all with Converse.
1:10.3	So they said, hey, Michael Jordan, if you want to be great, you need to come join the ranks of these guys.
1:16.0	Now Nike was essentially a no name in the basketball industry at the time.
1:20.8	But there was a recruiter from Nike who was kind of obsessed with game film and
1:25.2	watched enough of Jordan playing in college to believe that he would be great.
