There has never been a set of government demands on a private university of this magnitude.

The Trump administration wants more control over the nation's universities.

Harvard is pushing back. It's Tuesday, April 15th,

and this is here and now anytime from NPR and WBUR. I'm Chris Bentley.

Today on the show, the former Fox News commentator who's now in charge of the government's task force on anti-Semitism says his ideological fight with the nation's universities is just getting started.

And Israeli soldiers and spies are among those calling for an end to the war in Gaza.

So there's this wave of public criticism and letters that started with reservists and

air force pilots, some still serving and others retired, saying that the lives of

Israeli hostages are at risked by this renewed war. Netanyahu basically called them a radical

fringe group and the reservists were dismissed.

But then more letters started coming in.

But first, educate, don't capitulate.

That's one slogan from a protest sign outside Harvard University recently.

And it sounds like the message got through.

Harvard said it's rejecting a list of demands from the Trump administration, which the White House says were designed to fight anti-Semitism on campus.

Those demands include changes to hiring, admissions, and teaching, and in order that the school report students deemed

hostile to American values to the federal government. In a statement, Harvard's president

Alan Garber said, quote, although some of the demands outlined by the government are

...
