The Trump administration's deployment of National Guard troops and federal agents to the streets of Washington, D.C., ramped up Wednesday night,

as protesters chanted, go home fascists and get off our streets.

President Trump has also taken over the city's police department for 30 days and says he wants

Congress to grant him,

quote, long-term control of the force. All this in the name of public safety, despite the fact that

D.C.'s violent crime rate is at a 30-year low. And the president suggested that he liked to use

similar tactics to fight criminal activity in places like Baltimore, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
