0:18.9	My wife told me that when she was a little kid, her dad thought it was a lot of fun to playfully trip her and I get it now because it is kind of fun to trip my daughter and we have a great laugh about it.
0:23.2	But I'm not sure my wife thought it was very fun at the time.
0:26.7	And the truth is, there are other stories of people tripping that are not funny at all.
0:31.2	In 1984, Joan Samuelson won the Women's Olympic
0:35.2	marathon, but it wouldn't be another four years before she finally ran in the
0:39.7	New York marathon. At that time, Greta Vites was the reigning champ and knew the course like the back of her hand.
0:46.0	But once the New York marathon got going, Joan took the lead early on and made it even longer as the race endured.
0:53.0	It looked like she was going to be the winner
0:55.5	until an overzealous water station volunteer
0:58.0	stepped in front of her on the roadway
1:00.0	and sent her to the pavement.
1:02.0	Greta Vites won the race.
1:03.5	Joan Samuelson got third place and never won again.
1:06.5	I want you to fast forward your life by 20 years
