She published this exclusive piece about a woman in Illinois who ate a piece of Polish poppy cake,

poppy seed cake, went and gave birth, had the child test positive for opiates.

Oh no, she tested positive for opiates.

Yeah.

And she told the nurse, yeah, well, that's because I ate a poppy seed cake.

And the nurse was like, oh, girl, me too.

And then went ahead and reported her to child services anyway, which set off just months of trauma and humiliation,

all because a woman had the audacity to eat a piece of freaking cake that had poppy seeds in it.

And I can't help but recall that episode of Seinfeld, right, where Elaine eats the poppy seed bagel

and is all like, oh, no, I'm tested positive for heroin at work or whatever.
