I'm David French with Curtis Chang.

And we're going to spend this podcast answering a question, a question that's on a lot of

people's minds.

And it is simply this, what the heck is an evangelical?

You might be surprised at who's asking the question.

Evangelicals are asking the question.

Non-Evangelicals are asking the question.

Basically, as our nation is being pulled and tugged apart by a lot of religious disputes

and political disputes and the mixture of religious and political disputes,

this question about what an evangelical is has become incredibly important.

And it's become even more salient with the release of some

Pew research results that said that the number of white evangelicals in the United States,

or I should say, the percentage of white evangelicals in the United States has been increasing.

In other words, this is not, by some measures, a community on the decline.

It's a community as a percentage of Americans on the rise, which is not what some folks

predicted with the rise of Trump.

There were predictions that, for example, that Trump would perhaps contribute to a discrediting

of American evangelicalism as evangelicals wrapped both arms around him.

And so I think it's an ideal opportunity.
