You know, Jessica, one thing that I think an artist is going to take away from this interview is your ability to connect the dots, your ability to observe, listen, and figure out, okay, how can I, you know, do something that's you were in Bali, out of all the places you went to,

0:22.0

I feel like, you know, Valley might be that one place where people go and they just like

0:24.9

have this amazing discovery.

0:26.8

But you were in Bali and that's when you really start to connect the dots.

0:30.2

Can you tell the audience just a little bit about that experience?

0:32.9

I think that's going to be very beneficial for somebody.

0:35.6

Yeah, Bali is definitely a place where everybody goes for like this, you know,

0:39.7

spiritual experience.

0:40.8

And I won't lie.

0:41.3

That's definitely why I went there.

0:43.4

And yeah, like it was at a time where I quit my job, I think two years before I had

0:48.9

started my travel agency.

0:50.9

So I was running my boutique luxury travel agency at the time.

0:54.1

And I was just kind of like, what am I doing with my life? You know, I'd been like on paper, I was, I had been really successful. I'd had several successful careers across industries, across countries. And I was just really unhappy. And it was during my time in Bali that I decided that I wanted to be the first black woman to visit every country in the world. And then I completed that like two and a half years later. And part of it was spurred by my strong desire to be interviewed by Oprah.

1:24.9

Oprah, are you listening? I'm here waiting for you.

1:28.7

Oh, what's going to happen? And, you know, and that's a weird why. But everything changed as I was going.

1:35.3

And I think now for me, so much of what I do, what really drives me is my desire to use my

1:42.2

storytelling to reduce bias. So in everything that I do, I'm trying to, like, create these bridges and this, like, connection. Because I feel like we're losing our humanity.

1:51.0

And everything I do is about reconnecting us to our humanity, getting people to think, you know, better of the world, better of themselves, better of strangers,

2:04.3

and really helping people to see that the world truly is our neighborhood and we should all be good neighbors.

2:06.7

So, you know, what happened in Bali was one step that led me to where I am now.
