Good morning. It's three minutes after 10, and you are listening to James O'Brien on LBC. I do you know, do you know what that little pause was for there? Just to make sure that Keith was paying attention. No, it wasn't. That little pause was because I know what I'm going to be talking about in the first hour. But the second hour, it's kind of, this is my final show of the year. I'm not going to labour that point, because I fully appreciate you'll probably not clocking off yet.

Indeed, if at all, many people

working through the Christmas period, including some of my colleagues. But, I mean, it is an

opportune moment to have a little bit of contemplation of the year that has passed. And if we were

to boil down to the most significant stories of the moment, I think in terms of

international relations, in terms of the world that we inhabit, in fact, then it would be the

moment that Donald Trump destroyed everything that the West has held dear for the best part

of 80 years in the Oval Office when Volodymy Zelensky visited. And the way my mind works is I've got that on one hand. I'm thinking about what we might discuss in the second hour, which will be a sort of explain to me the significance of dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, or explain to me why this happened. Dot, dot, dot, dot. And the obvious one is the oval office, but do you know

what the other one is? At the other end of the swimming pool, very, very much in the shallow end,

the one that I am not equally fascinated by, because my fascination is of a very different

flavour, but the cold play couple, the female half of the so-called cold play couple has given

an interview which makes it pretty clear that she is a woman much, much, much more sinned

against than sinning. You read some of the statistics attached to the virality of that moment and your mind boggles. So I am drawn

also to the question of why that story went so bonkers. But whether or not you and I, even as the

year draws to a close, can do a double header, whether we can keep two plates spinning in the same

hour, one of which looks at the collapse of the post the same hour, one of which looks at the

collapse of the post-war order, and one of which looks at an incredibly modern moment of

virality and essentially trivia, and poses the same question. I do not know. I do not know. So I'll

leave that on the board. Louis Goodall in the chair at the starter next week, by the way,

in case you were worried.

And given some of the people that have sat in this chair during previous holidays,

I think you'd be perfectly entitled to be very worried indeed.
