On Friday, a new UGov poll came out showing that the Tories were 14 points ahead of labour.

Why is the Labour Party doing just so badly? Dan, were you surprised at this result?

No, I mean, I think the margin was maybe slightly eyebrow raising.

I'd be surprised if we see leads of that magnitude sustained over the next few polls that come out.

But the general trend and the general direction of the poll is one we've seen for a while,

which is Boris and the Tories

gradually increasing their lead and Starma, Captain Hindsight, and his hindsight ears sort of

gradually drifting backwards. Katie, it seems that even the Green Soul scandal hasn't cut through

at all, really. but i think we have to

give that time because i think that probably is a slow build particularly that narrative of tory's

sleaze that kirstarm was talking about at pmqs you can see what they would like the gemal frame to be

and how you could fit more than just a green still scandal into that at the same time i think

lobbying stories can be a little bit

techy. They're not the most juicy in the world. I think, for example, with the Barnard Castle

story, part of the reason I've such cut through was it was immediately clear to everyone,

whereas I think with some of these other ones, they can take a little bit longer. So I think

that has time. But I do think what is clear from this is

there has been an effort by Labor aides, Labour politicians trying to downplay expectations

ahead of the May local elections. And I think I initially thought, you know, well, they're downplaying,
