Antoinette Latouf is an Australian journalist and a diversity advocate.

She co-founded the Media Diversity Australia Group in 2017.

It's a non-profit that wants to increase cultural and linguistic diversity in Australian news media.

Now, I spend a lot of time consuming a lot of news media that has very diverse

faces in it, saying all broadly the same progressive things and not spending a lot of time

getting out of their thought bubbles and experiencing points of view

that come from perhaps less quote unquote diverse individuals, meaning working class white people,

but may actually be quite diverse ideas in the context of the panel shows where those ideas

are not aired. What do we want out of diversity?

Do we want a casting couch of different looking people?

Or do we want genuinely diverse ideas?

Do you need diverse people from diverse backgrounds

in order to get those diverse ideas?
