And this is Bridget.

And this is Stuff Mom Never Told You.

And today I am really stoked for the conversation we're going to have around a term that I actually

have to admit, as much as I read about, think about, and write about women's issues and

feminism, I had only recently stumbled upon this term benevolent sexism.

So I think what's funny is that the initials of it are BS, because that's exactly what

it is.

Total BS.

And I'm excited to talk through what the heck benevolent sexism actually is, what it

looks like.

And I think if it almost says like sexism light, L-I-T-E.

Diet sexism?

Yeah, totally diet sexism, because it seems palatable, it seems harmless, it seems like

almost politeness.

Right.

But sometimes we have to, as women, especially, but as men and women, recognize and call

out the harmful sexism that is benevolent sexism.

So this really became, on my radar, became more of my collective consciousness around this

issue with Vice President Mike Pence.

You may recall a few months ago there was an article popping up about his policy around

not dining with women in his office alone.
