Both the witnesses and lawmakers accused the Pentagon of covering up information about its UAP program and called for transparent and centralized reporting databases moving forward. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified today before the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee and faced questions about his handling of the U.S. border with Mexico. Mayorkas told Congress that he believes the U.S. is safer because of the Department of Homeland Security. 0:36.6	unexpected turn today when the judge began raising some questions about what she called
0:41.0	unusual circumstances surrounding the deal.
0:43.9	According to federal judge Mary Ellen Norrica, the diversion program clause of the deal
0:48.3	contains some nonstandard terms such as broad immunity from other potential charges.
0:54.5	And when asked if Hunter was currently under active investigation for other charges, federal
0:59.0	prosecutors told the judge that yes, he is, but were tight-lipped on what those charges
1:03.6	might be.
1:04.7	In fact, federal prosecutor Leo Wise told the judge there is no deal if the understanding
1:09.6	was that the investigation into Hunter Biden was over.
1:12.6	Now, ultimately because of the confusion and varying interpretations regarding the scope
1:16.4	of the deal, the hearing ended with Hunter pleading not guilty for the time being as the
1:20.0	judge told his defense attorneys and the prosecutors to discuss and ensure they were
1:23.6	on the same page.
1:24.6	But it doesn't appear the judge will be as forgiving as the rest of the DOJ has been.
1:28.9	And when asked about the case, White House Prosecutor Corrine Jean-Pierre insisted that
1:33.0	Hunter is a private citizen and the case was handled independently, sure Jan, watch.
