You know, you see these stories and you wonder, I mean, I guess I don't wonder, I get the

whole thing because the thrill when you pull it off is so much, but the number of people

who die, trying to do something that is inherently extremely dangerous.

Colorado woman, 26 years old, dies after a 500-foot fall while free solo climbing.

That means no safety equipment at Rocky Mountain National Park, a 27-year-old man who was

climbing with the woman notified park rangers of her fall.

When you hear that, what's your immediate reaction?

The goofy fall?

Well, or is your immediate reaction, man, if you wanted to get rid of somebody, it's

a pretty clean way of getting rid of somebody.

The National Park Service says that Rocky Mountain National Park search and rescue team members

were able to locate the man.

The park requested help from a Colorado Air National Guard helicopter, Buckely Air Force

Base, to extricate the man who was uninjured via a hoist operation.

On Monday morning, Rocky Mountain National Park search and rescue team members hiked to

the area above Ibsalon Lake to prepare for a helicopter long-line recovery.

The body of the victim was located and transported to the corner and medical examiner's office.

A 500-foot fall.
