What's up, Laker fans? Welcome to the Laker Film Room podcast. I'm Pete, joined by Darius. And

I've been wanting to do today's pod for a while now. It's been eating at me. And D, I want to

start from the context in which Rob started the job, right?

And so this is going to be a conversation about that.

But also, what is the job of president of basketball operations for the Lakers?

Just what is the nature of the job in the first place?

And the place I start, D is a place I've started a couple of times,

which is the fiery exit of Magic Johnson from his post.

And sort of the insight that we got there, the reason I bring that up is because I do think it is clear insight in terms of how the Lakers work. And so as part of that exit, one of Magic's main complaints was basically, I'm supposed to be running this, and I've got six, seven other people with their opinions of what they should do. I want them to stay in their lane and their area of expertise, but everybody's got opinions on what the whole thing should be

and what we all should do. And then magic leaves that. So, D, from there, what does the morning

after look like after that, right? Well, how does the team get run from there on out? They didn't

replace magic. They just bumped Rob up, right? It wasn't a matter of adding new personnel or anything like that. So it's my

belief that from that point on, that the team was very much looking to be run from the perspective

of, we're actually going to try to coalesce all of these opinions. And that that was sort of the
