I'm going to say some things that are going to get me put in a camp here.

Actually, it's racist to have race in mind when you draw these to try to make sure that you

real life immigration attorney, and that over there is Janessa Seymour, who's all kinds of other

kinds of attorney. What's up? Yeah, former neuroscientist, current trying to be disability attorney. We'll see how Congress feels about that.

And voting rights, which is very relevant to today's topic, unfortunately. Yeah, that'll come up a lot today.

It's become unfortunate that both of our specialties have become so relevant

to the news, but here we are. Both being relevant. Yay. To enjoy it well we can, I guess. I guess we should

have mentioned before that both of us have other jobs besides doing podcasts and that nothing we're saying

here is representative of any of our other jobs or any of the people associated with them. We are speaking just for ourselves. I feel like we have to mention that at some point, don't we? Yeah, I am here in my personal private capacity. That's right. We do try to keep it more or less positive in this program, but we do have to actually cover what is actually going on in the world right now. And we've got two big buckets of topics. We have, I'm not going to call it martial law, but there is a martial action happening in Washington, D.C. right now. We'll talk about why it might not actually be martial law. And there's also, though, kind of on the other side of the balance, a really interesting trial going on as the day of a recording. And by the time that you hear this, you may have a verdict in it. Maybe we'll do an update if we need to. But there's a bunch trial happening about the Trump administration's violations of the Posse Cometatis Act in the way that the National Guard was deployed in California. So we're going to talk about both of those things and how they relate in the way that Trump is using the military and domestic situations, which is unfortunately a topic that we fully anticipated. We've recorded now a couple of different episodes touching on this, including a complete one on the Insurrection Act. So you can check 0A1123, where we did an overview. I was actually on vacation when I recorded that one, and I thought it was going to be fun to talk about, but I was wrong. So we'll talk about those two related topics, and we'll take a break and talk about some recent threats to the Voting Rights Act that are now in front of the Supreme Court.

And Janessa, I think you've got some stuff ready on that. Yay. And then we've got a footnote. And usually we try to have some fun with the footnotes, but I want to have something serious but also very helpful because we do have all this bad news. I want to talk about an idea that I've cooked up for how to actually defeat ice every day in our everyday lives.

And something I think I've decided after 19 years fighting ice and thinking about ice and being very concerned about where this all goes. This is the only way that we can actually, as regular people, there's not going to be a political response. There's not going to be any opportunity for any other way that we're going to change this, but I think I do have an idea for how to stop the unchecked growth of ice. So that's today's footnote.
