Radio. Hey, Brain Stuff, Lauren Vogelbaum here. It may seem as if you're buying a lot more

birthday gifts at certain times of the year, but why is this? Is it your imagination,

or are there really more babies born in specific months or upon specific days?

If you look at births in the United States from the 20-year period between 1994 and 2014,

a really clear pattern emerges. There were an average of over 6,000 to over 12,000 babies born

on any given calendar day, but nine out of the most ten common birthdays fell in September,

with the one outlier in July. A September 9 was the most common birthday during that time,

with an average of 12,301 births on that day every year. The rest of the dates range from

September 10th through the 20th, with September 11th and the 13th conspicuously missing.
