Mark Hofmann had a Netflix documentary series that highlighted his criminal activity in the '70s & 80s in Salt Lake City, Utah—the home of the Mormon Church (known as the LDS the Church of Jesus Christ Later Day Saints.) In Murder Among Mormons, you learned about his crime spree on Tuesday, October 15, 1985, which involved two people being killed by homemade bombs he created and left for them. But what motivated this, by all accounts, a good Mormon who seemed like the perfect family man?
In this episode, I will go into Mark's background as a world-class forger and liar who ran himself and others into so much debt—he felt that setting off bombs would buy him time to figure out his financial problems. And the fallout in the church and community since then.
