Summary

So this week, I wanted to talk about numbing out. Why it happens, what it’s hiding, and how to tackle it in a healthy way. Because the more you reject or ignore an emotional state, the more often numbing out will happen, and the more you’ll turn to potentially unhealthy coping mechanisms. With everything going on these days, it’s more important than ever to bring some conscious awareness into things. I hope you listen in. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. I'm Connor Beaton, and today we're going to talk about the function of numbing out and what purpose

0:11.3

it serves, how to get through it, and why it's actually important data.

So recently, I was reading a book called The Secret of the Golden Flower.

0:21.8

And the book is basically an old Buddhist text that has been translated and commented on by Carl Jung.

0:32.3

But the text was really like an instruction manual for meditation, an instruction manual for cultivating awareness

0:58.5

envisioning the empty. And so the idea here is that the more that we can cultivate a connection to emptiness,

1:14.6

the more that we are actually able to cultivate a sense of awareness, a sense of groundedness,

1:21.3

a sense of peace, et cetera.

1:24.3

And I realized that this is sort of at odds with a lot of what modern men, a lot of us as modern

1:30.4

men are really dealing with.

1:31.7

And this is true for women as well, especially women that are much more masculine in their energetic

1:37.3

bodies.

1:38.8

And so I wanted to dive into this.

1:41.1

So the masculine really seeks freedom.

1:43.8

So the masculine within us seeks freedom.

1:45.8

And it wants to cultivate that freedom by creating external lives, relationships,

1:51.3

businesses, et cetera, where we have or have designed a sense of freedom within ourselves

1:56.5

in our lives.
