Welcome to The Man Talk Show. I'm Connor Beaton, and today on this midweek mini episode, I'm

going to dive into a topic that many of you have been asking for over the last few months,

which is to take

a bit of a deep dive into shadow work. So I'm going to outline what the shadow is. I'm going to

talk about what shadow work is. In there, I'm going to sprinkle a little bit of why shadow work

is so important because I fundamentally believe that every single human

being should do shadow work at some point.

And there's many different access points to do shadow work.

I'm going to be talking mostly today about the perspective of Carl Jung, who is, was a Swiss

psychiatrist who was the founder of this concept.

He was a creator, the curator of the shadow archetype.

And I'm actually going to start off with some of his words.

So here we go.

The shadow is a moral problem.

The challenge is the whole ego personality.

For no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort.

To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real.

This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.

Okay.

So let's talk about what the shadow is.

In many ways, the shadow is the parts of us that we tend to reject or deny or avoid.

It's the parts of us that we don't want other people to see.
